I am posting the following for Mary Lee Dunn.
Hello, Fellow Researchers,
You may recall news stories 15 months ago announcing that Sarah Palin’s immigrant Irish ancestor Michael Sheeran, who spent years in Rutland, came from Knockhall in Kilglass Parish, County Roscommon. The evidence came from Sheeran’s application for naturalization filed in a Rutland court in 1855, which I gathered in Rutland while collecting data for a study of the Ballykilcline immigrants who settled there.
The 1904 obituary of Mary Cline Sheeran, Michael’s wife, which was obtained by a Minnesota descendant of the Sheerans and provided to me, shows that Mary, born in 1831, also came from Roscommon and said that the couple married in Rutland on Nov. 12, 1848. Records that I gathered in researching my book, Ballykilcline Rising / From Famine Ireland to Immigrant America, suggest that Mary Cline, like her husband, came from Kilglass Parish.
You can read my story on the new research and see a family photo (dated about 1880) of the Sheerans’ oldest child (Palin’s great great grandfather), who was born in Rutland in 1852, in the current issue of the Roscommon Herald at this link:

The story is at the top of page 10.
Best Wishes, Mary Lee Dunn
