CRAVEN Mary; SLI,IRL; c.1900

Searching for anyone bearing the family name CRAVEN, or descendants of
that line.
Family narrative places a mature MARY CRAVEN living in Tubbercurry, Co.
Sligo Ireland around 1917. She may have had the maiden name of West. It
is believed the family was of English descent. If, indeed, she was a West
by birth, she would have had brothers, John and William and sisters
Susan, Eliza and Elizabeth. The sisters and brother John all arrived in
the USA between 1850 - 1875. The sisters carried the married names of
Willans and Ebury, there were other children of that family who remain
unnamed, some were unmarried and did not leave Ireland.
Does anyone have any information that relates to this connection? Or can
anyone give background on the CRAVEN name?

The name comes, at least in my branch of the family, from the "Craven District" in Yorkshire. This district, in turn, apparently took it's name from a word for wild garlic which apparently used to be common there (indeed in my childhood I often smelt wild garlic on the air.)
