: : : I am just starting and don't even know where to
: : : start looking for the McDonough's. Any help
: : : would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

: : The Leitrim-Roscommon home page has a link to our
: : page of "Suggested URL links". Follow this link
: : and when you get to the Suggested URL links page,
: : take the top link out to IRLGEN. This is an
: : excellent site for someone just starting in Irish
: : genealogy. I'm sure you will find hours of
: : interesting reading at this site, if not days.
: : As a follow up to this site, I would highly
: : recommend that you consider purchasing "Tracing
: : Your Irish Ancestors" written by John Grenham.
: : This is a must read for anyone doing Irish
: : research. I bought mine at Barnes and Noble.

: : Good luck with your research, and happy reading.

: Hope that someone has some ideas regarding my McDonough's as well. Patrick McDonough was born about 1795 in County Roscommon, died in Utica, NY in Jan or Feb 1847; is buried in St Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Utica, NY. Have written the church for possible information. He married before 1832 probably in Cloonfad, County Roscommon to Bridget Fitzmaurcie, born 10 April 1799 in Co Roscommon, died 8 May 1881 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Ilion, NY. Have not ever received letter regarding the possiblility of finding out if there are tombstones or not. ANY ideas? Their daughter, Mary Elizabeth McDonough, born 2 Feb 1834 in Cloonfad, County Roscommon, married Richard Michael Giblin about 1849 in Utica, NY probably at St Agnes Catholic Church. Mary Elizabeth McDonough Giblin died 30 Oct 1913 in NY and is reportedly buried in Oak Hill Cemetery in Ilion, NY as is her husband. As with the lady above, I have never attempted Irish genealogy so this is all new to me despite the fact that I have been a family historian for more than 25 years.

: Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

: Happy hunting,
: Marianne Hall-Little, hhfarms@icsi.net
Please keep me posted Bob
