I have information on above names as they relate to
my Duffy ancestors, who were from area around Lough
Glynn. Willing to exchange information. Also,
looking for description of life in the Lough Glynn
area during the early and middle 19th centuries,
especially around time of famine.

You may be interested in the Home page below for a bit of times during the famine in this area in general. Also try 'famine' links found there.

I'm definitely interested. I am a Lavin and my
family hails from Frenchpark Village but relatives
centered around the townland of Cloonshanville in
Tibohine Parish.

My grandmother's bible listed a Flanagan in the
lineage somewhere way back but I haven't been able
to located where (Possibly in the 1830's)

Please contact me at the above email

Regards,
Tom Lavin

My great grandmother, Mary Flanagan, came from Frenchpark, County Roscommon, Ireland...Born 21 March 1865. Baptised in St. Patrick's, Elphin.
Father was Patrick Flanagan. I think he was a tailor by trade. Mother was Catherine McNeil Mary’s baptismal sponsors were Michael Casserley and Bridget Connor. Mary came to Philadelphia about 1883 and married John Dowd in 1893. She had the following siblings:
Edward (Ned) b.1867, John, Bridgit, Ellie, Patrick, Joseph, James, Margaret and Kate.
Bridgit died at age 20 buried in Cloonshanville.
Brother Ned was in the IRC and stationed in Kerry in late 1890’s.
Sister Ellie emigrated to Phila.
Another brother emigrated to San Diego or Los Angeles area and was a Realtor in early 1900’s.
As far as I know, the rest of them stayed in Ireland.

I also have a g-g-grandmother, Julia Duffy, who was born in Ireland (I don’t know where) about 1837. She died in Coaldale, Pa. 1893 having married twice: James Keenan and James McDermott. She was survived by these children:
Charles John Keenan (died 1893 Phila., PA)
Mary Ann Keenan Miller (Lehighton, PA)
Grace Keenan Gorman (NYC)
Julia McDermott Edwards (Watertown, CT)
Rose McDermott Bull (Bayonne, NJ)
Hannah McDermott (Coaldale, PA)
Peter McDermott (Coaldale/Macungie/Phila., PA)

Any connections?

I have recently discovered a James Flanagan in Kilkeevin parish townland CLoonfower whom I believe is my ancestor. He was born 1815 and married Mary Fidler. Interested in any Flanagans in Roscommon. Thanks.
