Greetings, I've posted in the past with the hopes of finding info about the family of Michael Gibbons and Anne Nertney from Ballincurry without much luck. Most of their children (Patrick, Teresa,Lucy and Rebecca) emigrated to New York early in the 1900's, but I believe Michael and Hallord stayed in Ireland. There were Gibbons cousins also. One was an Irish Christian brother named Bernard and there were two nuns, Sisters of Charity I believe.
I meet Brother Bernard in NY when I was a kid, but I'm not sure what their parents names were except that they were Gibbons. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. James Regan

Hi James, following is what I have on family of Michael Gibbons and Anne Nertney.
Margaret Heleonora b. Feb. 8 1874.
Patrick b. May 5 1875.
Agnes b. Dec. 23 1876
Rebecca b. Oct. 1 1878.
Teresa b. March 23 1881
Lucy b. 1883.
Michael b. Mar. 17 1886.
Rebecca b. July 12 1892.

I can find no record for Hallord [Harold?]
The first Rebecca died July 10 1885 aged 7.
Re the cousin, Bernard, a Bernard was born to Henry Gibbons and Eleanor Collins, of Tuam, Kilgefin, on April 5, 1874. He had a brother, Martin, born Dec. 5 1870. The parents, Henry and Eleanor were married Feb. 22, 1870. Henrys father was Michael Gibbons and Eleanors father was Thomas Collins.

Have you checked the Griffith’s Valuation section and the 1901 Census section at www.leitrim-roscommon.com
Both sections list the family you are researching.

LDS film 868112 will show the change of occupiers of land in Ballincurry from Griffith’s Valuation c1857 to c1920.

For 1911 Census see LDS film 2193014 Item 2.

For the 1824 Tithe Applotment of Ballincurry townland see LDS film 256632.

The LDS British Isles Vital Records set of 16 CDs lists the following birth:.

GIBBONS, Margret Ellen Birth
Gender: Female
Birth Date: 8 Feb 1874
Birth registered on page 374, in Ballyleague Registrar’s District,
Recorded in: Roscommon, Ireland
Collection: Civil Registration
Father: Michael GIBBONS
Mother: Anne NERNEY
Source: FHL Film 255895 Dates: 1874 - 1875

Be aware there are lots of ways to spell Nerney/Nertney

Good luck in your research.
John
