Did you check the handwritten 'late registrations' at the back of the index books? Was the marriage Catholic or Protestant? They are recorded in separate index books at the GRO. The GRO has indeed relocated to Roscommon, but the research room has remained in Lombard Street in Dublin. Access to the Birth, Marriage & Death indices and photocopies of entries therein, continues as always. Contact with Roscommon is only necessary when actual certificates for events outside D...

Hi Anne The Irish Times web site www.ireland.com has a genealogy section which includes the distribution of surnames throughout Ireland i.e. where particular surnames were most commonly found. It might be worth a look. A lot of the names you mentioned sound more English than Irish, or at least Anglo...

Hi Carole I am not familiar with the resources available in the area you mentioned but many records can be consulted in Dublin. Where to start researching can depend upon the years you are looking for. State registration (for Catholics) began in 1864. Birth, Marriage and Death records can be consult...
