Hope this isn't too dumb: what is the FGS conference? I'm new to some of this. Also: I have Fitzgeralds on my maternal side from mid-1800s. Know very little about them except that some of the family may have been horse traders in or around Marquette Michigan, Sault Ste. Marie, or Ontario/US border. ...

Linda -

Have you looked at the Ellis Island site? There is a Mary Heslin listed there from Aughmore, Mohill, Leitrim arriving NY in 1905. The age is off a bit. But could be her. Also other M Heslins you might check out if you haven't done this already.

Tom - I also tried to e-mail you from this site, with no luck. I've been researching Shines in Drum parish. Willing to share what I know with you which would be done more easily with direct e-mail contact. If interested, contact me at: sueshie at yahoo.com

Hope this may help: I'm researching a gr-great grandmother who was a McKenna from County Tyrone. Although she didn't say exactly where she was from, old family records seem to be clear that she came from Tyrone, and possibly the southern part of the county. Still waiting to hear back from that count...

I had very good results through the Strokestown Centre. It took a several months for their first reply, but when they contacted me, they had found useful information. They quoted me a price for a detailed report (having given a listing of types of information to expect). Once they received my check,...
