There are a number of Frayne's buried in Fuerty cemetary as well. They are located on the right hand side, inside the front gates. May want to check to see if your line is connected to any of them. Enjoy your trip. - Nuala

Hi Bernie, I am interested in learning how you know your gggrandfather joined the British Army in 1805. I am researching a Henry Murray, born 1772 in Moneymore, Kilmeane, Roscommon who also was a Millitary Pensioner. At this stage, that is all I know about his military record. It was listed on his d...

10 years? Amazing! I, for one, am truly grateful to Roger, Ed, Shaun and all the supporters of this marvelous website. I have used the census databases so much over the years. The maps are invaluable, the bulletin board is a link to expert advise and assistance and I couldn't imagine looking at a mi...

Sean, you are absolutely right in assuming that the word could be something else. Without seeing the actual graphic it is very difficult to determine. Irish records are rife with abrieveations, so it is indeed possible it is "ann'l".

You're welcome John, but I don't think I was much help. None of my dictionaries etc list anything that even remotely relates to rent payments, estates, land and so on. I will keep it in mind and see if anyone else knows what it refers to.

John

You don't specifically say what part of the records you were looking at. The word "ariel" has several meanings depending on the context of the paragraph. Also the time period would be important.

Try a search in Google Books for a couple of ones that might apply.

HI Kat. Thanks for the response. Culleen Hall or Culleen Townland? The Hall we know is in the village of Knockcroghery. There is some conjecture on the Townland. Any info would be appreciated. Have the Films you mentioned. Not looking for people at this point, just the Townland written as "Cull...

Ed Gaffney, you are a wicked man! How do you expect me to get any homework done if you keep giving me these delectable sites to investigate? Now this is a "wee hours, jammies" kinda site to learn. I actually grew up in Toberkeagh, Athleague with my grandfather, so I'll have to see if there...

Dear All, It is always fascinating to read other people's comments on a new link. I too took a quite evening an gave this site a workout using data from original source documents to test my theories. My conclusion - typical heritage centre rip-off! Some of my observations: 1) these are transcription...

That's wonderful Andrew! Thank you so much. Would very much appreciate photo of the hall. This is a new area of Roscommon research for me, so all help is welcome. I have no photos of Kilmeane Killinvoy area. My own line comes from Athleague/Fuerty. Many thanks and would be glad to return the favour....
