Origins of Lee Family from Kilronan Parish
A few years ago (it could be as many as eight) somewhere on the internet, I read information about the historical origins of a family named Lee that arose in Kilronan and were distinct from other families with that name. I remember discussing it with someone else on the internet who also had interes...

Hi Ryan, Welcome to the world of genealogy. Go to: http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census/census.shtml and you will be able to search through the 1901 census, assuming those folks were in County Leitrim at that time. There are a number of Dunns/Dunnes etc ( ignore the spellings; they are wildly...

Sassy, I was hoping that someone with better information would answer your question, but since no one has, I will share what I know. I have read that these records were lost, fairly recently like the 1940s. If they had re-surfaced we would all be jumping for joy but I'm afraid that that is not the c...

Cornageeha Church & graveyard, Ballenaglera, Drumreilly
Hello,
Does anyone know anything about this place ? John Hunter has it on the master list that he is developing. I am interested because it borders on my family's townland.
PS
John I didn't receive an eamil from you

Hello John, Your list is impressive. --Is Lavagh graveyard the same as Auchilochy graveyard ? I've been to this graveyard, but it's not one connected to my family so I don't know much about it. The townland of Lavagh is across the road but it is possible that in earlier times the larger area was mor...

Hi John, ( I hope that I will be corrected by others who have more knowledge than I) First, I suggest that you obtain a copy of the Ordnance Survey Map 26 if you don’t already have one. This link (which is a school project) contains some great information about some of these places: http://www.dbo.i...

Was there something in particular in Sauk County that would have drawn these men there ? Most folks immigrated to places where others from their area (including relatives) had already gone. Do you have names for other Irish settlers in Bear Creek at this time ? Are the names specific to County Leitr...

Hello Sharon, The townland of Ummera is near Dowra and Drumkeerin on a modern map. A townland is just a division of farmland. Ummera is on a hill overlooking Lough Allen. I am also the descendant of one of the few Cassidy families in Inishmagrath Parish, but haven't been able to tie my family to thi...
