I live in New York State and I'm trying to find out more about my Conlon/Doyle family. According to the parish records of Keadue, Arigna and Ballyfarnon in Roscommon, my ggg grandparents Thomas and Anne Doyle were married on Sept. 7, 1826. The witnesses were Eugene Doyle and Celia Doyle.
Thomas and Anne's daughter Mary Conlon was baptized on October 10, 1836. The sponsors were Patrick O'Brien and Celia Doyle and the baptismal record was also found in Keadue, Arigna and Ballyfarnon.
I do not know how many other children Thomas and Anne had - but I do know they had at least one other, my great great grandfather Michael Conlon. From his marriage certificate, I know that he was born in Roscommon on May 19, 1831. Michael moved to Scotland where he married Mary Nelson of Leitrim in 1855 in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.
Michael and Mary had 7 children - all born in Scotland:
Anne b. Feb 22, 1856
Thomas b. Aug 12, 1857
John b. Sept 17, 1859
Catherine b. May 24, 1864
James b. July 22, 1866
Bridget b. January 22, 1869
Michael b. Nov. 25, 1871
I'm interesting in finding out where my Conlons and Doyles lived in Roscommon. I wonder if Thomas and Anne had other children and if their daughter Mary Conlon had descendants. I visited Kilronan Abbey Cemetery and did find one Conlon & two Doyle graves abutting each other close to the gravesite of Turlough O'Carolan. I also observed in either the Tithes or Griffiths that a Conlon and a Doyle either shared premises or were very close neighbors in Derrynadooey and I wondered if they might be mine. I'm planning to visit Roscommon in the fall and would like to learn more about my family before I get there.
I would greatly appreciate any info or help.
