Tracing Relatives in the RIC

Thought it may help some new researchers (like myself) to have details of the search facility offered by the RUC Museum re any relatives who were in the Royal Irish Constabulary. I have just used this service and all I had was a name. I obtained DOB:/Trade Calling/Native County /Date of discharge/Date of Marriage/ Birthplace of wife etc. etc. I think this is a really good service. It cost £10 sterling and the address is: Constabulary Headquarters, 'Brooklyn', Knock Rd, BELFAST, BT5 6LE. Thanks for the inf. I have tried without success to email the RUC through their website link. Is it me or is there a better way other than snail mail? How did you do it? Thanks Jim

I originally e mailed them at <policy@ruc.police.uk> to ask if I had enough information for a search - I only had a name, no dates or anything else. I got a reply to say they were passing the name on to the relevant department and two days later I got a service record sent by e mail with a request for £10 - so I got the info before payment which I think was a pretty good service.
