Adoon National School had a reunion recently and I have a copy of the commemorative booklet - lots of names and pictures. If anyone went to the school or had relatives who did I can see if they are mentioned. There is a list of pupils from 1913 to 1975.
I also have a copy of Michael Whelan's book "The Parish of Aughavas" which also names many people in the (Catholic) parish, gives meanings of Townlands and has the complete record of Griffiths Valuation and, perhaps more importantly, the Tithe Aplotment books for 1833. It also names all (or most) of the people in the parish in 1998.
E-mail me privately if you want any look-ups from either publication.
Jim

adoon school and aughavas parish look-ups
Re: adoon school and aughavas parish look-ups
Dear jim,
I thought i would mention that my mum recently went to the Adoon school reunion and loved it. Her name is Brigid Agnes Murray(nee Wrynn). My dad Patrick Leo Murray was the pupil, but he sadly died 5 years ago.
My mum has shown me the booklet of the pupil of the school and also the video. Although I cannot remeber seeing the Micheal Whelan book, it would interesting to have a copy because of the land that my dads family owned and also the uncle, Micheal Wrynn of Costrea of Feenia(sorry I think I spelt this wrongly)
Could you reply please.
Ian Murray
Liverpool, UK
