(a weaver from Scotland on Lord Lorton's estate in the 1850's) She had five children: Ann(a), Kate, Bessie(Elizabeth?), (can't remember next girl's name but she stayed in area and was adopted (after both parents died of "Plague" about 1866, they had allowed a 'sick' man to stay in the barn as a mark of hospitality) and a baby girl who also died at this time. Anna emigrated to Albany, New York, U.S.A. in about 1866. After arriving in U.S.A. she worked in service for the governor of New York State who then sent her down to Chester,PA to the Crozier's estate where she married the estate's carpenter James Taylor, who had fought for the South in the Civil War and worked on buildings in Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA. She brought her other two sisters over to the U.S.A. as she saved her funds. Any information on the above would be most helpful since I am preparing a 90th birthday celebration on November 21, 2001 for my mother who is the fourth generation of this female line. My mother's name is Jean Molloy. My father's family (Molloy)came from the Dublin area and my great grandfather(Thomas Edward) went to Trinity College but did not complete his degree and left Ireland, we think for political reasons,("shot the landlord") around 1870 and came to Philadelphia, PA where he sold insurance.
Joseph,
I believe Jennette or Jeanette is a form of Jane . Have found a
reference to a Jane Gaffney also born to a Francis Gaffney and a
Bridget Reilly (on 29th Nov. 1818) - don't know if this is the same
couple or not - this info on Jane Gaffney comes from the LDS site and
refers to film 1903703. Hope this helps.
Ed. Gaffney
