Post by Sally Akina »

Am looking for information about my great great grandfather Peter Killelea and his Wife Bridget Conlon. The only information I have is that they were from Roscommon and they had 7 children Patrick J. (who is my grandfather), Roger, Peter, Winnifred M., Jennie, Kate, and Mary. Patrick J. was born in Ireland in 1854 died in Leominster Ma. USA on Oct. 12, 1911.At the time of Patrick J. death his brother Roger and 2 sisters Kate (married name Bacon) and Mary still lived in Ireland. I do not have any information about
Also, familysearch.org has the records for a number of Killelea's in Roscommon. My relatives also settled in Leominster from Roscommon. My great grandmother was from Tawnytaskin, Boyle, Roscommon and I know that she sponsored relatives and friends coming over from Boyle to Leominster. Also, ancestry.com has the census online and they also have the Leominster Directory for about l890 online as well to give you a clue as to where your relatives lived. Sue's genealogy site has some of the l910 census online as well that may be easier to access if your family is on it. The l910 census may well tell you when your ancestor came over and that can get you closer to his naturalization records which may reveal the exact location in Roscommon. This site has the records of a number of Killelea's with the same family names as you have recorded as living in and around Boyle, Roscommon. The familysearch.org also seems to have a lot of Killeleas from the Boyle area. You probably still have relatives over there.
Also, if you contact St. Leo's Cemetery in Leominster, they would be very helpful in letting you know about Killeleas in the cemetery and the pertinent dates. I think I remember seeing that name on a headstone there a very long time ago. Good luck.
