ROSCOMMON<br>reply to James my g grandfather was Thomas Patrick Morahan he was married twice his second wife my g grandmother was called Annie,their children were John Joe, Sarah Jane, Bridget, and my grandfather Thomas Patrick (packie)my grandfather and his two sisters came to Derry when young after their father died,my grandfather was born 23/3/1896 and died in Derry the year before I was born 1957.My grandfather had twelve children one of them my mother Bridget,they were the only Morahans in Derry,funnily enough the eldest child Thomas went by the surname Moraghan but the rest were Morahan. Hi James:<p>My family the Nephin's emigrated from the Boyle area around the time of the famine. I am interested in gathering some historical info on the Boyle area. ie. conditions around the time of the famine, did the people from the area leave as a group, etc. Thanks , Kathy

<p>jan, sorry unable to help. no trace of any of the Boyle Moraghans ever moving to Derry. Often when talking about coming from Boyle,people can mean the townland of Boyle,which extends for a considerable area. A lot of Moraghans originated from around the area of Cootehall, which is a small village roughly half-way between Boyle and Carrick on Shannon. Perhaps you might try to investigate that area. But you can certainly rule out the actual town. James

James<p>: james thanks for you help,will try the areas you mentioned<p>james have found my connection on the 1901 census Thomas Moraghan fruit dealer,from mill lane in boyle,lists my grandfather and his siblings.<br>
