Convent boarding school in Roscommon Town

Post by Pat Bosse »

Does anyone have any knowledge of a boarding school run by the nuns in the town of Roscommon? My grandmother emigrated from Ireland in 1882 at the age of ten. She always said that the family left her in the care of the nuns at a school in Roscommon, until they sent for her 4 or 5 years after their immigration to the states. She said that the school was a place where the people "with money" sent their children.<br>I thought that the Convent School in Elphin might have been the place, but now that I know she came from Roscommon Town, it seems to be a little too far away.I will be going to Roscommon in April and would appreciate any info.
