They're C of I as are many of the retailers in Boyle.
Re: Boal of Roscommon
Boal is a Spanish name.
I have been reseaching this name for over a decade.
My grandmother was Eliza Walker Boal b. 6 Jan. 1876
in Hurtletoot, Co. Antrim, m. Thomas Millar 1899
in the 1st. Antrim Presbyterian Church, Antrim and d.
in Melbourne, Australia 1956.
If you have not seen it use a search engine for
"The Story of an American Heritage". This is the
background of the Boal's of Boalsburg, PA, USA.
This family is most likely related to mine in Co.
Antrim. No link has been confirmed to date.
My Boal's went from Edinburgh, Scotland, c. 1680
and settled near the towns of Antrim and Kellswater
in Co. Antrim.
Please e-mail me with any Boal's you have as I may
be of assistance to you. I have in my files Boal's
from the USA and Canada together with Ireland.
The Irish links largely relate to Co. Antrim - but
who knows - one may be yours.
The Boal's were almost without exception
Presbyterians. To be C of I at that time would be
very similar in doctrine so it was likely a home
away from home.
Trinity College in Dublin was an engine house of
reformed doctrine in those days.
With best wishes,
Peter J Millar
South Australia
