Tighe of Ballintubber (Ballintober)

I have just found that my great-geat grandfather, John Tighe, was born in Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon. His wife was Ellen (Helen) and a daughter, Meriah born in Ireland. They apparently came to the US about 1845-48. Does anyone have information?

My gggrandmother, Margaret Tighe and her husband, Michael Finan, lived their lives in the townland of Ballyfinegan, which is contiguous to Ballintober Village, and the Finans are still there today. Michael was listed in Ballyfinegan in the 1832 Tithe Applotment book. They had moved to Ballyfinegan that year from the Townland of Behy, on the other side of Ballintober village.The following baptisms are from the parish register of St. Brides Catholic Church in Ballintober. When I looked at it in 1991 I was primarily interested in the name Finan, so I can't guarantee that I got all the Tighe entries, but you can see the closeness of the two families:09 Sept, 1832 Thomas Finan, son of Michael Finan and Margaret Tighe Sponsors: John Tighe and Ellen Flanagan14 January, 1835 John Finan, son of Michael Finan and Margaret Tighe Sponsors: Michael Tighe and Catherine Fox(Gap in the records from the end of October, 1835 to November, 1841)(Unreadeable),1842 James Tighe, son of Patrick Tighe and Bridget Kilbride Sponsors: John Casey and Mary Casey29 May, 1842 Margaret Finan, daughter of Michael Finan and Margaret Tighe Sponsors: James Tighe and Ellen Finan06 April, 1845 Bridget Handmer, daughter of Thomas Handmer and Margaret Tighe Sponsors: John Kelly and Margaret Egan13 June, 1845 Mary Finan, daughter of Michael Finan and Margaret Tighe Sponsors: Patrick Finan and Mary Tighe30 August, 1848 Patrick Madden, son of Michael Madden and Mary Maguire Sponsors: John Carroll and Mary Tighe Margaret seems to have been about the same age as your John Tighe and could have been his sister.I hope this stuff is of some help. Tom, I am looking for info - maybe you can help. My private email is annbrownell@hotmail.com I have a marriage in Edinburgh in Nov. 1866 for Terrance Early (born 21 August 1856) in Tawlaught to ANN TIQUE. I believe this Terance Early was a brother of Mary Eardly who married James Rourke in Edinburgh in 1864.i have the Eardlys details but have never been able to find the O'Rorke's. The information I have is Thomas O'rorke Mason by trade married Anne Keefe and remained in Eire while their family migrated to the Us and Edinburgh parish.Dates I am not sure of as their son James was b. 1845 somewhere in Roscommon and he was rumoured to be the youngest son and left after the parents deaths in 1864.Any info on the Tique family would help as i think there may be a connection. Also how far is Kilronan walking distance from Boyle.
