Hello Everyone, Pardon my absence, was due to family and computer illness. Family's fine, computer died.
Am back with renewed excitement and 7 more old family letters, some documents and more clues, which of course that brings more mysteries. I have a lot more information, which I'd be happy to share, and now have my Beirne connection! but the other surnames;
Carney (Kearney), Egan, Sharkey, Murray, Murat, Noonan, O'Rourke, are out there somewhere. Especially hunting Martin McGarry's b. @ 1838, parents, Kilnamanagh area. He married Cecilia Murray b. 1838 and that's where I'm needing a boost. Any kind soul see a connection, or know of a relation to McGarry-Murray or Coll-Carney surnames?
Ballinameen, Castlerea, Killucan, Frenchpark to CT & Orange, NJ 1890
Thank you for any clues, for reading & happy hunting all! Tim McGarry
Hi, Tim,
Lucky you -- letters and old documents!
So what did you learn about your Beirnes? You mention Ballinameen and Connecticut. My immigrant gggrandfather John O'Beirne (Burns in U.S.) came from that area about 1846 and settled in eastern Connecticut. He was the son of Martin and Rose O'Beirne, according to his death certificate. His naturalization record said he was from Elphin. I presume that may mean any townland in that vicinity.
Sorry about your computer. Been there, too.
Mary Lee Dunn
