Rorke's from Roscommon

Post by Ann O'Rorke »

I have put in Rorke into the Lietrim Roscommon Elphin Cenus Search Output 1749 and up came a Thady Rorke.
In 1963 I was in Aberdeen with an old uncle (PP) who told me he had researched family history in Dublin. He had found an ancestor called Thady and for generations the dogs were always called Bryan because this was important - why I do not know. Now I find a Thady Rorke living in a Townland called Bryanmore - is this just an odd coincidence?? My known ancestor Thomas O'Rorke (note spelling) was a mason by trade and married to an Ann Keefe around circa 1820. Despite years of searching by family members and professional researchers nothing has ever been forthcoming. How does one find out about this census and can anyone suggest my next move because we have all hit a brick wall.

Read www.geocities.com/stephenvincent/rourkeprofiles.htm for a profile of Brian O'Rourke knighted by the conniving Elizabeth.
