Sadly my dad died on the 20th June 2002 and just had his burial on the 2nd of July 2002. My dad's name is Chris and his brothers are Patrick (RIP) Jimmy, Joe and Tony. His sister is May. I have been researching the family tree for about 2 years. My dad was really proud of what I achieved and I was able to go back to My Great Grandparents the Farrells and Phillips who lived nearby in Tobracken. My dad and his family lived in Ballaghderren during the late 1920's to the early 1950's. I intend to carry on my research in memory of my dad, who was a great inspiration to me. Please contact through this site only as my E-mail link has been down for some time. TRACEY xxxx

Hi Chris
My G/Dad Anthony Finn b1902 was from Bockagh Hill, in Ballaghaderren.
Anthony was one of 5 children - John Joseph b1898, Michael b1899, James b1901, Anthony b1902,and Patrick b1907. Their parents were
James Finn snr b1868 and Anne Finn nee O'Donnell.
I believe Tracey has also been in contact with you. Tracey is my
second cousin - we found each other by tracing the "Finn's Family Tree". As Tracey is having problems with her email, I will pass any
correspondence to her.
I do hope some of the above names are familiar, in particular
Patrick who we are finding extremely difficult to trace, as it is believed he emigrated to America.
Good Luck with your research, I look forward to hearing from you.
Pat
(Patricia Green nee Finn)

: : : I am looking for information on the finn family from Ballaghadreen, County Roscommon.
: : HELLO, My Dad and his family came from Ballaghaderren.
: Hi Cris and Tracey,
: I have been reading your postings regarding your mutual Finn research,
: and although I have no reason at the present time to believe any of
: my Finns originated or moved to Ballaghaderreen, I believe that it
: could be in our mutual interest to exchange information that could
: perhaps narrow down some of our research efforts. Hello Everyone,
I have recently taken an active interest in trying to trace my family origins. Unfortunately most of the churches containing my family records have burned down over the last century leaving most of my family in the dark about our history. I come from a long line of Finns from Spaniard's Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. I have been on the other side of the country for several years and I have not kept in contact with most of my family and even had I, our family never seems to discuss our family origins and none of the surviving members know much of our history.
Do any of you know of the origins of the Finn Family in Spaniard's Bay, Newfoundland, Canada? My grandfather Ron Finn (whom passed away in 1974) had two brothers Richard and Thomas, I believe. I have found a few marriage records referring to a Patrick Finn in the early to mid-1800s and Anastasia Finn in 182(1/2) amd a reference to a labourer Thomas Finn of Spaniard's Bay in 1898. This is pretty scant information so far, If you have any hints or suggestions, the would be appreciated.
-Ron Finn
