John, Jim, and Pat Kearns were all part of the same family. Owen Kearns may have been a cousin (or brother?). Owen is the only one I know much about.. He would have been born about 1890-1900, took part in the War for Independence, later joined the Garda, died in 1977 and is buried in Cork. The other three lived around Slieve Bawn. Chances are that at least one of them emigrated, but I have no knowledge of that.I assume that becasue the land holdings at the time were not large enough to support three families. If, however, they didn't marry or just one of them did, they might have been able to eek out a living and stay in the country and survive.
