My husband is telling me I should apply for duel citizenship for our two american born boys. I want to educate myself on this, but I don't realize the benefits that I would be giving my children by doing this. NOTE: MY HUSBAND IS IRISH. HE HAS BEEN IN THE STATES FOR 17 YEARS. PLEASE EMAIL ME AT JSHANNON1@CINCI.RR.COM

Re: dual citizenship
Your sons would have the ability and opportunity to work in Ireland and perhaps the entire European Union without the hassle that the ordinary US (only) citizen would face. Since it is not a big deal to go through the steps, you would be doing them a favor to get them citizenship while young. And, if they become Irish citizens before having children of their own, their later-born children have the right to become Irish citizens as well (unless the laws are changed in the future). This is information that is pretty accurate, I am quite sure. I downloaded information from the official Irish Republic website just recently.<p>
