I too,am researching Cox in Roscommon, particularly James Cox and Hannah Shields Cox JAMES COX James Cox was a farmer living in County Roscommon, Ireland in the early and middle years of the nineteenth century.It is not known in exactly what part of the county he resided. His wife was Hannah Shields. It is not known who their parents were, but it is believed that the family had Scottish forbearers. The couple had five sons, four of whom emigrated around the middle of the century at the time of the potato famine in Ireland. The names of the sons are as follows: Robert Went to Australia John Stayed in Ireland Benjamin (18201876) Went to Massachusetts William (18221899) Alexander P. (18401904)
