Polly,
Recently I went looking for the birth of John Molloy in the Irish
Civil Registration index to births. I looked at the years 1874,
1875, and 1876. There were 14 John Molloy births in Ireland
in 1874, 14 in 1875, and 15 of them in 1876. These John Molloy
births were scattered all over Ireland.
Isolating your John Molloy from the others seems impossible
unless you have some other way to narrow the search, such
as names of his siblings, names of his parents, or his county
of origin.
Tom Voyles
Its like searching for a needle in haystack, as they say. I do plan on spending some time in Ireland this summer. Hopefully I will be able to rot something out then...
where are you Tom? Did you find that info on-line? Could I ask you one more question. Would you know where I could look for service records of the Battle of Omduran? I have researched the battle pretty thoroughly(spelling?) but other then going to England, I feel stuck as to find to find the actual soldiers.
Again, thank you
Polly Molloy
