It's great to read all of the posts! I'm very impressed with all the helpful replys.
I have a goal of reaching Ireland someday before I'm old and grey. I will be looking for records pertaining to my Great-Grandfather Patrick H. Finneran and his wife Bridgett Mathers (possibly:madders or mathern). Patrick's father was John and his mother was Catherine: of Galway. Patrick was born in Kilbegnet, Roscommon Feb. 25th, 1845. Bridgett was born in Glenamadda (Glenamaddy?), Feb. 4, 1844.
The family story goes that Patrick had many brothers and some came across the the U.S. and maybe some stayed. In my G-grandmothers obituary, it mentions that she left two brothers: one residing in Manchester, England and the other in Galway. If these names or places strike any familiar chords, please reply!! Thanks, Martin Fineran

Finnerans
I wonder if my great grandfather is related to yours. Im trying to find info about my great grandfather Lawrence or Laurence Finneran. Hewas born about 1847 in Kilkenny Roscommon. I dont know if he had any brothers and sisters. He emigrated to Lancashire England in the 1870s. I plan to visit the area this summer.
Hello Maria3190,
I was looking at some old emails from distant cousins and I found a note indicating that my G-grandfather Patrick had seven brothers, but I don't have any names. I will see if one of my cousins has any names listed. I did receive a message from another cousin that traveled to Galway and didn't locate any records of Finerans/Finnnerans, but I don't think she had any information regarding some of the lands in Galway transferred to Roscommon, as indicated in an earlier posting. Earlier in 1999, I commissioned some help from the Galway Family History Society West and they were unable to locate any Finnerans. Best of luck.
