1821 Carrigallen Census Townlands

Post by MarkCT »

Can someone explain this to me? From what I understand Carrigallen was/is a parish like Mohill parish. Did these lands overlap?

Carrigallen was a Civil Parish in its own right. There is also a Catholic Parish of Carrigallen. But where it overlaps with Mohill is that the townlands within the civil parish are all part of the Mohill Poor Law Union.

Townand names repeat in various Parish's for example on my mothers side in Mohill Parish Glasdrumman (Glosterman old name) was my grandfathers townland . In Fenagh parish there is also a Glasdrumma townland. A lady named Kathleen Woods from the Fenagh townland married a Matthew Bohan (my graandfathers side from labbyeslin townland in Mohill parish they have been married 52 years and I visit them every year. Now you begin to realize this research an't easy. Jim Bohan
