Mulligan / Reynolds of Mohill
I'm looking for information on the Mulligan family from Mohill. My great, great grandfather was John Mulligan and he married a Mary Reynolds -also from Leitrim. They had a son, John who also married a Mary Reynolds (daughter of Michael Reynolds and Mary Ann Daly). They emigrated to New Haven. I believe the Mulligans owned a farm in both Mohill and Drumoughty Beg? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Mark While visiting Labbyeslin townland a month ago, I ..met Tom Bohan who is from Funshinaugh. He said his father was John Bohan from Funshinaugh. Labbyeslin is right next to Funshinaugh but in Mohill Parish. The Bohans on Funshinaugh are known as the Builder Bohans, theu are in the construction business. Also a John Mulligan was on Labbyeslin on Griffths in 1857. I do not know any more about him at this time. However a John Mulligan married Margaret Maggie Bohan in 1901, and immigrated to New Haven a week later. They lived on Spring Street. She had been in U.S. before . I have details but I am at Florida home , will return to new haven area in a couple of weeks and I can send details.of my research. My grandfather on my fathers side was from Labbyeslin, Bohan family still there. On my mothers side Bohan (yes) her family was from Glasdrumman also next to Funshinaugh. I have a whole lot of info on the neighborhood in the Gorvagh area.God Bless Jim Bohan
Thank you for the reply! I wonder if there is a connection here. I am related to a Thomas Bohan (born around 1900) but his father was Bernard Bohan who married my great grandfather's (John P. Mulligan) sister, Catherine. From what I understand, Catherine and Bernard Bohan had 13 children. As of 1983, 4 were still living: Catherine in Ireland, James in England, Elizabeth Degnan (Hamden, CT) and Rose Prior (West Haven, CT).
I will continue with my research and post what I find out - now that I know about this great message board!

Bohan to a Mulligan
Mark enough research its time for a story. Mary Ellen Bohan was born in 1894 on the townland of Funshinagh in KILTUBBRID (NOTE SP.) parish. On Qct. 24 1914 she is listed as 21 years old and sailed on the ship Cedric from Queenstown( Cork) Munster to NYC. She traveled in steerage with 4 other girls Beatrice Moran 23 who went to Monclaire N.J. Ellie stanton 17 and Mary Lynch 19 went to NYC. Anne Stanton was returing to the U.S. age 30 and also went to NYC. Mary Ellen Bohan went to New Haven,Ct. to her uncle John Mulligan (surprise) at 100 William St. She listed her contact in Ireland as Bernard Bohan of Funshinagh townland. She returned to Ireland in 1926. Remember Funshinagh is right next to Labbyeslin. I am searching for a John Mulligan who was on Labbyeslin townland on Griffths survey in 1857. God Bless Jim Bohan
Jim! Fantastic information! That John Mulligan who is Mary Ellen's uncle is my great-grandfather and also the brother-in-law of Bernard Bohan who married my great-grandfather's sister, Kate Mulligan. Mary Ellen's grandparents (my great-great grandparents) were John and Mary Mulligan of Drumoghty Beg, Mohill. They were married in 1870 in St. Patrick's in Mohill.
