Quinns of Keadue, Roscommon

Post by reillymo »

Hello all

I am seeking information on the family of Patrick Quinn of Keadue, Roscommon born in 1796. He emigrated to Rhode Island. I am hoping to find any Quinns that remained, or any info on his family. Anyone know if church records would go back that far? His wife's first name was Alice.

He remained in Roscommon until at least 1840 as his children were born there.
They known children were:
Peter Quinn b June 1835
John Quinn b 1836
Patrick Quinn b 1838
Barnard Quinn b 1840 <could be Bernard>

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Thanks so much for all that info! I appreciate it. Do you know the name of the church in Keadue? Although I am hoping to visit in the fall, I would like to contact the parish priest to see what records they have and to make an appointment <if need be> to get the info.

Once again, many thanks!

Maureen,

I have found an IRISH community in West Virginia city of KINGSVILLE. It was named after the family of KING and was in RANDOLPH county.
My research took me there. The town is gone. The church has burned. The cemetary is still there. All records that exist can be found in the church at COALTON, WEST VIRGINIA or the archives in WHEELING.

My great grandmothers family lived there. I think the community was built in the late 1840's.

Hope this helps with the KINGs.

Kings from Roscommon to Rhode Island

Post by reillymo »

John

I'm afraid its a different line. All my Kings settled in Rhode Island. It is a huge clan there. I am originally from Rhode Island, moved to Cape Cod..and am now in Seattle, WA...but stay in touch with most of my King relations.

Thanks for the info, though!

Maureen,

I myself spent a little time around Cape Cod with a fellow named Teddy Kennedy. Its funny how roots grow in different directions but are connected.

Remember we all come from the same roots!
