since last posted have found quite a bit more information regarding my ancestors.my grandad john mcgloin was born in drumcastle kinlough on the 17th may 1871.his father was also john mcgloin and his mother was bridget roonian.

Born in 1888-1889, from Gortgarrigan.

a lot of the family went to glasgow in scotland.they went to a place called the gorbals.my parents were divorced so i cannot get any information of my dad's family.we do have a bartley in the family but only in drumcastle.not sure how he was related.

Was your Great Grandmother (bridget roonian) from that area as well? Roonian is unsual, it could actually be Rooney, my Great Grandmother was a Rooney from Drumcashel. Lots of them around there.

Bridget Roonian came from county fermanagh.I have my grandad's birth certificate and Bridget's name on the birth certificate is Roonian,and also on my grandad's death certificate.He died in glasgow in 1944.The glasgow certificates have quite a lot of info on.I have been told that people with the surname Roonian and Mulrooney changed their name to Rooney about 100 years ago.
