Kelly / Culligan Fenagh Parish

Eliza Culligan & Bernard Kelly:

I am looking for any information on the Culligans / Colligans from Fenagh Beg in Fenagh Parish. Eliza Culligan (aka Bessie) married Bernard Kelly around 1864, probably in Fenagh. They had four children per Fenagh Parish records- John, Mary, Thomas & Catherine (all born between 1865 & 1870). Per the land records, there are no Kelly's living in Fenagh Beg at this same time. They probably lived with Eilza's parents in Fenagh Beg. Have hit a dead end on Bernard Kelly and figured a Colligan researcher may have some more info. Thank you for your help.

I'm afraid that name no longer exists in Fenagh, I see there was a middle aged couple in Fenagh Beg in 1901 (Culligan), there was no mention of any children, they must have been the last ones.

Thank you for your help. I beleive the Thomas Culligan living in Fenagh Beg at the 1901 Census is Eliza's brother (married around 1871). I assume if Bernard & Eliza were still living with her brother in 1901, they would be listed in the household under the "others" section.

I did not find a death record for Bernard Kelly in the GRO index from 1870-1901. I also did not see any matches with the boy's names (John & Thomas Kelly) in the 1901 census, so I assume the whole family moved elsewhere (probably the US or England).

I believe Bernard is a child of John Kelly & Elizabeth Prior from Ballycalleen and was probably born around 1830. I have traced 4 out of the 8 Ballycalleen Kelly's forward, but am still missing info for Bernard, Mary (B. 1839), Rose Ann (B. 1843) and John (B. 1846). Thanks again.

I'm sorry this may not relate. However my mother who is 95 had a friend named KELLY for many years.

She had not heard from him in years and asked me to help her find if he was still alive.

Investigation found that he had died in Beckley, West Virginia and we visited his burial site.

I often think of this, and him.
