MY GRANDFATHER JAMES GUIHEEN MARRIED MARY GAFFNEY. MARY'S PARENTS WERE BRIDGET AND PATRICK GAFFNEY. THE CENSUS SHOWS THEM AS LIVING IN THE PARISH OF ARDCARNE. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH FURTHER INFORMATION? THANKS

John
Thanks for your reply. It is much appreciated.
The 1901 census shows Patrick's age as 40 and Bridget's as 38 so Patrick and Bridget nee Brennan may be the parents.
On looking at this site I note that people seem to know which Latter Day Saint microfilm to look at. Is there an easy way to work it out?
I will certainly check the film no you gave me.

Hello Ed
Thank you for your information.
I have spoken to my mam (aged 86) and she says that she thinks that her mother Mary was 6 months old when she came to Ireland. I don't know how long Patrick Gaffney was in America. Mary was the oldest so it may be that Patrick married there and came back to Ireland. My mam could remember the date of her grandfathers death so I ordered a death cert (just received it today) and she had remembered correctly. He died on the 29th December 1929. His age is shown as 69 which tallies with the 1901 census so I guess the year of birth is about 1860. I will try and order the film from the latter day saints. As you say there are many Gaffneys from tht area.
Thanks again for your help. It is much appreciated
