Tansey

Post by Deborah LeBlanc »

My ggggrandfather was Thomas Tansey. His wife was Mary Corcoran. Their son Joseph O Tansey was born January 1843 in Boyle, Roscommon and his wife was Mary Ann Sheerin who was born March 1843 in Doon, Roscommon. This is my gggrandfather and he immigrated to Massachusetts in 1866 and settled in Leominster, MA. He had a brother Patrick J. Tansey born February 2, 1841 married to Catherine (?) and a sister Hannah J. Tansey born April 1859 married to Andrew F. Gaffney. Both Patrick and Hannah immigrated to Massachusetts and settled in Leominster, MA also.

I researched Tansey baptisms and marriages in Elphin Diocese (Boyle). Looking back on my notes, I found the following baptisms for Thomas Tansey and Maria Corcoran: Catherine June 3, 1839; Brigid March 22, 1844; Honor March 3, 1847; Honoria April 9, 1849. This might be a different Thomas and Mary, but I thought you'd like to know.

I have one question. Where do I write and what is the fee to have a record copied and mailed?

Sorry for the belated response - my computer crashed. I obtained the information on the Tanseys from materials maintained by the Chruch of the Latter Day Saints. If you have access to a local family research center, you can have Salt Lake mail microfilmed records (which include the parish register of the Elphin diocese) to the center. The reel numbers are 989743 and 989744. Since my interest was Tanseys & Bradys, that was all that I recorded in my notes. Good luck.
