Re: Mullalys (and variants)
There is a very comprehensive book with some dated information on the clan by Dennis Patrick O'Mullally from Chicago. By "dated" I mean that it was published in the 1940's, and some of the information is anachronistic. The basic content, however, is very thorough and informative.

Re: Mullalys (and variants)
Le baron Thomas Lally de Tolendal was one of the leader of the army of France during the battle of Pondichery, where the french has been defeated by the english. The english were superior in number, so the french did not have any chance to win the battle. But, after the lost, Lally-Tolendal has been charged of treason. Obviously, he was not guilty and loyal. But the king of France, to save the honnor, decided to sacrifice Lally-Tolendal, so he has been executed. Since then, many friends of Tolendal (who was also near to become a very known writer), among which Voltaire, forced the kingdom to step back. Incidentally, the title of Marquis Du Pont Saint-Laurent was granted to his successor.
