My grandfather was<br>Thomas Lavin who was born around 1897.He later emigrated<br>to Newcastle-under-Lyme in the English midlands and married<br>Catherine Moran from Westport Co. Mayo. I know that he<br>was one of about twelve children and had a sister,<br>Catherine, who emigrated to Chicago, USA. I am looking for any information on my great-great grandparents. Thomas and Catherine Kane Lavin. Thomas was b. approx. 1837. The only information I have on his mother is that her first name is Bridget. They( Thomas and Catherine) had 6 children. Thomas came to the U.S. in 1854 and settled in Cumberland MD between 1871 and 1875. My g-grand uncle, John Hanley married a Bessie Lavin before coming to the states from Roscommon in 1865. They had no children, but other members of her family are buried in the family plot. The names on the stones are: Alice Lavin 1807-1906; Timothy Lavin 1844-1886; Catherine Lavin 1834-1910 and Catherine Lavin 1809-1875. There are other stones adjacent that lack a surname: Bridget, Mary, Edward and Malachi.<br>Because of the dates, I am assuming that the older Catherine and Alice are the mother and /or aunt of Bessie.
