From the LR Twonland search engine I find Gorttoose in the Strokestown Poor Law Union/ the Bumlin Civil Parish/ and Roscommon Barony and County.<br>I've tried using that information on the 1/2 inch to the mile Ordnance Survey map (sheet 12) but am unable to find the name Gorttoose.<br>Can anyone tell me where Gorttoose is (or should I be asking where Gorttoose WAS) as a map reference or in relation to a landmark on the map.<br>Thanks<p>Peter Rourke<br>Researching ROURKE and KILLAIN from GORTTOOSE<br>McL

It was recently the subject of an archealogical dig led by folk from U. Missouri researching a clachan.
