Banahan and Burns (beirne, byrne??)

This message has been posted before, but I have since changed isp's and friends have told me the forwarding<br>didn't work.<p>New email is yuska@tiac.net<p><br>My grandparents Mary Banahan and Thomas Burns (I think it was mangled by immigration<p>from Beirne or Byrnes) emigrated from County Roscommon<p>to Elizabeth, NJ between 1880-1900 and lived there all their lives. I would<p>appreciate any pointers to towns or parishes where there was a <p>particular concentration of these surnames. I am in the process of gathering immigration & naturalization<p>information here, and will post it shortly on the URL<p><br>www2.pcix.com/~yucca<p>My wife and I are in the midst of a larger family history project, <p>and are spending time in the archives here for census and immigration<p>data, and would be happy to exchange research help here for any<p>aid we can get on the Irish side. thanks,<p>Joe Yuska

There were and are many Beirnes around Aughrim, Kilmore, and<br>Elphin. Good luck.<br>Beirnes

Good luck.<br>: Beirnes<p>My greatgrandmother was Ann Beirne Mulligan<br>Her father was Patrick, but don't know yet where in Ireland they came from. Would be interest to know if Immigration information<br>is helpful. My Ann was married to a John Mulligan and Ann was buried in Port Jervis, New York in St Mary Cemetary. Several beirnes buried there.

My paternal grandmother was Ida Byrne. She had two brothers, one was named Gus. She<br>married Thomas Rooney and they settled in<br>Manalapan-Perrineville area of NJ, Monmouth County. She died in 1950 but I know she came from the Jersey City area. Her mother died when she was a child and I believe her father's name was Joe Byrne.<p>Arleen Rooney<p>
