I am traveling to Ireland on July 3rd. I have not been successful in gaining my great grandmothers town or her mothers name. I have her fathers name, Patrick Beirne. There are alot of them.!! I have heard nothing from New York State Vitals, nothing from Baptismal, marriage or death records. I am distressed that I will go to Ireland and not have enough to look. Does anyone have any suggestions for when I get there. I only know that she (Ann Beirne ) was born in Ireland around 1859-61 (guessing. Death certificate has age only at death not year of birth). She came to the US before 1888 as she had a daughter, maybe more then. I have found her burial record, but nothing there. Advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Thank You
You said that you have a copy of the Death Certificate. I assume that it does not have her mother's name. Have you contacted the church she attended for their records? I always enclose a donation and a self addressed, stamped envelope and stress that you need the imformation as soon as possible. Finally, did you check her obituary? That may contain some information. Her children's baptismal records may have godparents who are relatives. Good luck.

Re: Traveling to Ireland
From your earlier post Your Ann Bierne was married to a Mulligen?? If so married in US or Ireland. If in US have you looked for their marrage licence? Have you found her in a US Census, if so It has her age at census time a - a way to better approximate her birth year. If married in Ireland, have gonre to a FHC to look up marrage records in Ireland. Either record in US or Ireland often gives Mother's original surname, and sometimes also place of birth.
Depending on that info I may be able to help.
Gus Ellis
