I came across some Greenes in the parish records of
Kilkeevin, which includes the town of Castlerea.
These are from the 1830s. Edward born to Patrick
and Catherine Kelly. The baptismal sponsors were
Patrick Greene and Catherine McDermott. Patrick,
born to John Greene and Margaret McDermott;
the sponsors were Edward and Catherine McDermott
[who may have been my great great grandparents]
i know there was a McDermott family from Cloonlee
in Ballinlough who were related. I must visit the
old cemetery in Ballinlough; it should be of much
interest.
