Where they originated and who were James parents.<p>No doubt, part of the occupying forces after the Rebellion of 1798 and the Act of Union of 1800. Both names British (Davies is Welsh). Nevertheless there are over 500 Stanley's and almost 100 Davies in the Irish phonebook today. I guess they didn't all leave. The Captain would have been in one of the garrison towns, e.g., Athlone, Boyle or Roscommon.<p>
