My Shannon info begins with James SHANNON and Catherine REYNOLDS who were married Elphin Parish Co Roscommon 26 Feb 1821. 1.Children of James and Catherine were: Mary--born Elphin parish 17 Feb 1822 Catherine--in US living with Patrick by 1865 Anne b Croghan 8 OCt 1835, m. ARKINSON James b 1830-35, wife named Bridget; children Anne, Lizzie, Richard, Mary Etta, James, John Patrick William- Born 1831; married in Framingham (Saxonville), MA 1856 to Bridget Brennan also of Roscommon; 2. children of Patrick SHANNON and Bridget BRENNAN: John Patrick (12 Jun 1867-26 Apr 1933) born Saxonville m. 12 Oct 1908 to Nellie MONAHAN daughters Ruth, Elsie --one m. KELLY Michael Joseph (9 Jun 1871-9 Jul 1932)-schoolteacher m. 27 Oct 1907 to Margaret RYAN James William (15 Mar 1857-12 Sep 1882) - priest - Mary Elizabeth "Mame"(3 Feb 1861-18 Nov 1951) b Katherine Theresa (13 Feb 1859- 17 Sep 1933) Ellen Mary ( (9 Apr 1863-21 Jan 1914) Francis Peter ( 9 Feb 1869 born in Saxonville, MA (US) married: 23 Oct 1901 to Ellen Mary LUCEY lived in NatickHave been unable to compile any additional information even thru Roscommon Heritage Center, ads in Roscommon papers, letter to parish priests. You don't mention a townland. In my search for the family of my gggrandmother Bridget Kenny Burns, who emigrated to eastern Connecticut around 1847, I learned from the Roscommon Heritage Center about a Michael Kenny married to an Ann Shannon. They lived in Lisphillip, outside of Ballinameen, in the 1820s. They had five children: € Bridgid, baptized Oct. 11, 1824; € John, Jan. 27, 1827; € Hanora, March 17, 1833; € Michael, Nov. 20, 1835; and € Thomas When I visited that area a few years ago, I found that a Patrick Shannon still lived there. He sent me a brief note in response to a letter I wrote him. A friend has told me that the people in that area had earlier been evicted from Aughrim and Kilmore. Please e-mail me if you want to discuss this further. And good luck. Keep in mind that the Griffiths database is far from complete, but even with that I did find a common denominator for surnames Shannon, Reynolds, and Kearns. It would appear that those names all show up in the civil Parish of Kilkeevin. I know this is a long shot, but sometimes a long shot can pay off.Just a little food for thought.Good luck with your research.Ed Finn efinn@thecore.com

Roscommon, where my Uncle John lives today. My Uncle tells me that Patrick Shannon of Tully was related to the Shannons who lived on the Townland of Lismacool, Elphin. Griffiths valuation lists a Martin, John and Patrick Shannon living on that Townland in 1857-8. There were a lot of Shannons living in Roscommon, so they may or may not have been related to the Patrick Shannon you seek.Do you mind telling me where you found the Elphin marriage records from 1821?
