I have little knowledge to go on, but I suspect my Ancestors may have originated from the Roscommon area. My Great-grandfather settled in Crawford, County, near Vail Iowa. I have found his name listed in a 1892 Farmers Directory, compiled from a Vail, Iowa Post Office. His name was Patrick Finneran. Why we dropped the extra "n" is a mystery to me. I have a Photo of him in later years and recently, have obtained two turn-of-Century Photographs of him as a younger man and many other people who cannot be identified. My Grandfathers name was Martin Edward Fineran. Any information or hints would be greatly appreciated on finding anything out on the very closed-mouth side of my family. Thanks, Mfineran
