Shanley's of Leithrim or Roscommon
Re: Shanley's of Leithrim or Roscommon
Diane, I have just recently found that I have a Shanley connection. Ellen (O'Neill) Tiernan was my grandmother, born 1897 and died 1959. Her father was John Tiernan married to Ellen Tiernan (formerly Tiernan. John must have been born circa 1850. This John Tiernan's parents were Patrick Tiernan of Cornagher Townland, Parish of Cloone, Co. Leitrim, and Bridget Shanley of Annaduff Parish, Carrick-on-Shannon. I am guessing this would have been in the 1830's. Is this the area you are looking at? At the moment it is all I have. There are a total of 13 Patrick Shanley's listed in the Griffith's valuation, so if you let me know the area, I can give you some of that info.
Kathy Clare gclare@sprint.ca

: Looking for info on Patrick Shanley born 1820.
: His father was Dennis Shanley and mother Catherine Mulranhan.
: Spouse was Mary Morahan or Moran.
: Mary's father was Dennis Moran and mother was Bridgett Shanley (no relation).
: Would like to know when and where Patrick entered America.
: Thanks,
: Diane Shanley Tigue

Leitrim had a mother with the Shanley maiden name, married to Patrick Ford (e), father of Michael and George. Family moved from Drumshanbo area (near Carrick-On-Shannon) and settled in Liverpool, England sometime before 1881, found on census there in Liverpool. Anyone with any additional information, please reply here but also send me an e-mail. Thank you, Jean.
