'Croghan' surname

Post by Mary Lutz »

My great grandfather was born in County Roscommon, Ireland,
circa 1846. It is said he came to the USA about
1862 at age 16. I believe his father's name was
Edward. He had three brothers, William, Hubert, and
Martin, and two sisters, Margaret and Ellen. Does
anyone have any information on Croghans about this
period? It is possible they lived in Fourmilehouse.
He lists his father as Martin on his marriage certificate. He had died by 1883. Martin would surely have been born in County Roscommon circa 1840. I have not found many Marin Croghans!! Pleased to follow up with you. Joe
