Mullooly/Malooly Roscommon

I believe that my great grandfather was possibly the first mullooly to come to the u.s. during the irish famine. his name was thomas vincent mullooly born 1826 in or near toberdon near knockcrogery roscommon. my great grandmother was from the same area and was born in 1833, her name was eliza somers/sommers and she arrived in the u.s. in 1850 aboard the ship scotia at the age of 16. it is quite evident that he sent for her to come over and they were married on dec 8 1851 at st. patricks cathloic church in baltimore, maryland. somehow our name got changed , probably at immigration and so we have been maloolys ever since. my great grandfather also sent for two of his nephews in roscommon and they eventually settled in the chicago area. thomas and eliza had 6 children. william ,the oldest, delia, thomas, elizabeth, michael-my grandfather , and bartholomew. i have visited the mulloolys and kellys in roscommon three times since 1967 and still have a lot of questions about this unusual name. i have done a great deal of research but cannot find out how my great grandfaher got to settle in baltimore or who my great great grandfaher was although i am pretty sure that his name was william . hope this might be of some help to you .i would be happy to try and answer questions if i have any answers.

Does anyone have information regarding the descendents of Thomas Vincent Mullooly? My mother was Virginia Mullooly and was the daughter of William Mullooly? I believe her father may be from the Balitmore area also. She had an aunt who was a nurse in a hospital in Baltimore. My mother was born in Weston, WVA in 1926. My grandfather died before I was born.

My grandfather died before I was born.<p>as far as i know all of the mulloolys in baltimore went by malooly. my great grandfather had a son by the name of thomas vincent malooly . he ran a bar in baltimore and was married to kate higgins. i will have to check to see who there children were if any. possibely someone went back to the mullooly name at some point.
