My maternal great grandfather was Peter Kilkenny who was from Bundarragh, County Leitrim. He had eleven children, including my grandfather, Francis Kilkenny. All but the youngest, Sarah Kilkenny, immigrated to the United States, although some of their progeny returned to Ireland. There is a large extended family of Peter Kilkenny, most of whom now live throughout the United States. On my paternal side, my great grandmother was Catherine Kilkenny, one of five children, who married my great grandfather, Michael Monahan. Catherine had a brother Francis Kilkenny, who in turn had some 11 children. Although many died in youth, several lived to adulthood leaving an extended number of family living in both Ireland and the United States. One of Catherine's sisters, Brigid, married a man named John O'Rourke. They in turn also created an extended family, many of whom remain in Ireland. If you want more information please contact me and I will provide family trees on both sides of my family. Dominic Monahan

He had two son's Owen and Michael. Owen would have been born around late 1890's. My father Michael was born early 1900's. There is a group of Sweeney's in that area. My father's house was built in the 1840's around the start of the famine. There are still some Sweeney's there I think. What are you looking for?
