Patrick Hanly/ Bridget Garvey

Post by V. Kay Mason »

Seeking information about their family. They are said to have "died young" (he was a civil engineer?). Their four children- James, Margaret?, Catherine?, Patrick (probably all in their early 20's) emigrated to the U.S. in 1852, docking in Baltimore, MD. I am descended from Patrick- he worked for the B&O Railroad and lived in WV and Fayette County, PA. I have no information about his siblings or parents (said to have been from Strokestown, Roscommon).

The family lived in Bolton, England in the 1870s. Their daughter, Catherine married Patrick McCormick, son of John McCormick and Catherine McDonnell, from Strokestown, Roscommon and then Bolton in the 1870s. Both families emigrated to Albany, New York in the 1880s. I am not sure if the Finnerans came frome Strokestown too or met the McCormicks in Bolton. Feel free to e-mail me.
