Margaret McLaughlin was born in Altavra, Parish of Killarga, Leitirm. She married Owen Gaffney, exact birthplace in Ireland unknown, in about 1844. Daughter Ann was born about 1845, daughter Catherine about 1847, daughter Mary about 1850, birthplaces in Ireland unknown. On April 26, 1850, they all arrived in New York aboard the Dromohair out of Sligo. They settled in Rutland, Vermont shortly thereafter. Mary's daughter, Ellen Gaffney, was born in Rutland and married, first, Edward McGinley, and then, as a widow, married a relative of her first husband named Patrick Mumford. If anyone is researching McLaughlin/Gaffney/McGinley/Mumford in Rutland, Vermont, I would be glad to exchange information. Many families in West Rutland came from Leitrim and Roscommon.<p>
