Elliotts of Manorhamilton

Post by Chuck Elliott »

Seek information about my great, great grandfather, Adam Elliott (born circa 1798) , who left Manorhamilton in 1848 on a ship out of Sligo to settle in Newark, N.J. (USA) with three sons--Walker, Brett and John. Adam's father may have been John. His wife was apparently Elizabeth Barclay. Some of them may have gone to California in the Gold Rush. They seem to have been of Scotch-Irish descent, and of a Protestant background. Adam may have been a land owner or at least a manager for major land owners, and may even have voted in Ireland after 1848, although that is somewhat unclear from the records. Anyone know anything about these people?
