The book The Year of the French, by Thomas Flanagan mentions Leitrim, Mohill especially, as a place heavily involved in the 1798 Rebellion. From what I had read previously, I thought the failed attempt to land French soldiers was strictly confined to the west coast of Ireland. I would appreciate hearing from any history buff who may know something about what happened in Leitrim and nearby Longfor during that time
